„Interieur“ ist eine urbane Intervention des Syntopischen Salons, der ein Satellit der Ausstellung „Cityscale“ (Kunsthalle Lothringer13) ist. Die Istanbuler Künstlerin Gülçin Aksoy installiert dazu im gläsernen Labor des Syntopischen Salons in der Goethestrasse 31 die Arbeit „present tense“.
Gülçin Aksoys Arbeit “present tense” konzentriert den Innenraum des abgeschlossenen, jedoch jederzeit einsehbaren gläsernen Labors am Staßenrand der Goethestraße. Eine Uhr ist so präpariert, daß sie sich an jeden einzelnen Passanten richtet. Die “time-machine” aktiviert die Umgebung: Sie arbeitet mit dem individuellen und öffentlichen Raum zwischen den inneren und äußeren Zonen des Labors. Das “Interieur” des Labors dehnt sich aus, vom unmittelbaren städtischen Viertel bis zu den beiden anderen Orten von “Cityscale”: zur Ausstellungshalle in der Lothringerstr.13, in welcher weitere Arbeiten der Künstlerin zu sehen sind, und zum Klohäuschen an der Großmarkthalle, an dem eine weitere Uhr installiert ist. Die Syntopie zwischen den Städten München und Istanbul zieht Kreise.
Gülçin Aksoy führt uns mit ihrer Installation im Inneren des gläsernen Labors ein beständiges Ärgernis, ein dauernd unangenehmes Gefühl unserer Konsumgesellschaft vor Augen. Sie erinnert uns an Verpflichtungen, Termine, an Verbrauch und Konsum. Dauernd. „You are late.“ „Du bist zu spät.“ Diese Arbeit wurde zum ersten Mal im Jahr 2000 gezeigt und wanderte seitdem durch zahlreiche öffentliche Räume. Gülçin Aksoy interpretiert in ihrer künstlerischen Arbeit meist politische und soziale Ereignisse – wobei sie politische Aspekte oft auf ironische Art und Weise aufzeigt.
Gülçin Aksoy ist 1965 in Samsun geboren, lebt und arbeitet in Istanbul.

The “Syntopic Salon” is a satellite to the exposition „Cityscale“, which takes place from 22 of july to 18 of september in the exposition hall Lothringer13, Munich.
„Cityscale“ is basically an artistic exchange project about the urban structures in the two major cities Munich and Istanbul. It shows individual inner cityscales of artists living in Istanbul and Munich, which have been generated as a reaction to the respective external cityscale. At the moment artists from Istanbul are visiting Munich – next year participating Munich artists will visit Istanbul.
Under the title “Interieur” the “Syntopic Salon” invited the turkish artist Gülçin Aksoy in his “glass lab” to installate the urban intervention: “present tense”.
Syntopic Salon: Urban interventions with transdisciplinary activities between art and science „Syntopy“ is a term, known from the brain research, which means that two initially disconnected places get linked with each other. A particular milieu for something new and unexpecting arises.
The urban intervention of Gülçin Aksoy:
Like a lonely planet a clock is concentrating the interior of the lab. The clock is prepared in such a way, that it appeals to the individual citizen, who is passing on the street. The timemachine is activating the environment: It is operating between the individual and the public space, between the interior and the exterior zones around the lab. There will be an extension from the proximate urban quarter to the other both locations of “cityscale”: The exposition hall Lothringer13 and the other one “cityscale satellite – klohäuschen”. The syntopic connection between the cities Munich and Istanbul is developed and is going on.
Gülçin Aksoy gives with her clock in the interior of the lab on Goethe-Street a constant annoyance, a constant discomfort feeling of our consumption society. It constantly reminds work and consumption. „You are late.“ the very first version of this work has been showed up at the year 2000 and until today it has been seen in several public areas. Gülçin Aksoy’s works usually include a political or social aspect, which she discusses mostly in an ironical way. Gülçin Aksoy, born 1965 in Samsun, lives and works in Istanbul.
